Genesis 50:19-21 “But Joseph said to them, ‘Do
not be afraid, for am I in God’s place? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for
good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.
So therefore, do not be afraid; I will
provide for you and your little ones.’ So he comforted them and spoke kindly to
them.“ (NASB)
Hello,
We react quickly. This is great…sometimes! The fast reaction
– or overreaction as it often is – seems to be encouraged. We need to react
quickly, can’t waste any time; if we are wronged and don’t say something now it
makes it worse; fight right away….sound familiar?
Joseph, he was a different kind of guy. He didn’t whine and
complain about being sold to slavery, unjustly put in jail or being forgotten
about – he just kept on trusting that God was going to take care of things. Did
he know how this would turn out, or some of the why? No, but he didn’t worry
about that. He didn’t overreact when wronged – just kept in perspective who was
in charge and stayed level headed in his reactions. In the end, he saw the reason
of what he went through – but that was just a bonus. We won’t necessarily get
to know the why….and we are not in the position to demand that of God. Rather,
we just have the responsibility of staying level headed through the good and
bad times – responding in a way that is pleasing to God.
Have a blessed day,
