Tues Devo: Perfect timing

Hello,

I have this tendency that typically ends up not working out well. I try to time things perfectly. I wait for just the right conditions, and then spring into action! Of course, by the time I think things are perfect I am generally too late….There is only so much we can do to control outside elements. Sometimes we just need to know what the right thing is and do it – not wait. The most critical element of this is when it comes to following God. He wants us to do what is right immediately. We don’t have to try and time God – (He is in control of time after all).

So, that thing that God has been asking you to do (or stop doing)? Now is the time. Don’t wait – just follow in obedience now!
Did you know that the word immediately appears in the New Testament 101 times? The majority of these are in reference to either people doing what God had asked, or God showing His power.

Mark 4:18-22 “Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.” (NASB)
