2 Corinthians 5:16-19 “Therefore from now on we recognize no
one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according
to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. Therefore
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old
things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things
are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry
of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to
Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed
to us the word of reconciliation.” (NASB)
Hello,
With the new school year upon us, it got me thinking about
new starts. Recall for a moment your last new start. Remember how it started
with that feeling of frustration or perhaps failure. Perhaps there had been
false new starts before – where you intended to start fresh and new, but
something kept pulling you back. Then you had that time (or period of time)
where some key realizations began to set in. You didn’t have to be held to the
past, something new was possible, some adjustment to surroundings or behavior
was a must to make the new stick. The other realization that was likely there
was perhaps the most crucial was that someone else was behind you, supporting
and encouraging you.
Our new start with God is no different. We have to be
willing to let go of our past – no matter how challenging. We must believe that
the new start is possible, and be willing to change our surroundings and
behaviors. But most importantly, we must remember that God is a willing and
active supporter in our new start. He takes an active role in our new start. It
is not a long climb and reach to where He is, but rather a journey with Him at
our side. He proved this through the life and work of Jesus, and we should find
that of great encouragement.
Have a blessed day,
