Hello,
As I look back at many times that I have pushed back against
God, or been frustrated with where things sit, there seems to be a common
thread = Me! Now, while that may seem obvious let me explain a little bit about
what I mean. You may be different than I am, but I can best speak to what I know.
When I am frustrated or things are not going the way I want them I ask “why?”.
But not only why – but rather there is also an unspoken piece of “why me?”. It
is this last part of focus that gets me going down a path I shouldn’t go. Life won’t
always go my way (that is never promised), but our mindset and mental
perspective in that time will dictate how we handle those tough times. In those
tough times, I think we have to ask ourselves “what if this isn’t about me?” I
know….in our culture that feels against the rules, but what if we handled our
reaction to the tough times looking at how we are to respond, and not focused
to just ourselves and whether things are fair or not.
In scripture we are told frequently to focus on loving
others and not focusing on our own selfishness:
Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in
the Law?” And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with
all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is
the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall
love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the
whole Law and the Prophets.”” (NASB)
Have a blessed day – that day may be for the purpose of
someone besides you!
