1 Peter 1:13 “Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep
sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to
be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (NASB)
Hello,
I was watching some football this weekend (not a surprise)
and saw a couple team change up their defensive strategy in the 2nd
half when leading. They backed off being aggressive and just kept stuff in
front of them. They were trying to avoid ‘the big mistake’. While they did
that, the offense changed up and just took chunks of yards available to them
and would move down the field with little resistance. This ‘bend, but don’t
break’ style of defense is maybe a little effective – but often ends up putting
you in a position at the last minute with the opponent about to score that you
have to change styles and suddenly get aggressive again – and sometimes
momentum has already swung, making that very difficult.
We can’t get this way spiritually. We can just be passively
bend but don’t break – we will lose ground and before you know it be found in a
tight spot. We must always be action ready!
Not too late – change it up and be action ready today!
