Tues Devo: Choices matter

Proverbs 4:23-27 “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth and put devious lips far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of our feet and all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; turn your foot from evil.” (NASB)

Hello,

Quick – what is the most important thing for a follower of Jesus to do? How does one narrow that list down to just one? So many things to pick from – sharing your faith, reading your Bible, praying, caring for the poor/orphans/widows, loving your neighbor. So….how can we pick the most important thing?
Yeah, I know – kind of a trick question…..

But there is an answer! The answer I believe is obedience. We are to be obedient to the instructions of God. Our Creator and Designer gave us the instruction manual full of the keys to life. But our problem is that we feel we are smarter….or don’t care….so we either don’t read the instructions or we choose to do differently. But our choices matter. Our actions matter. Our choices and our actions need to be rooted in the love based instructions from God. They ought to be a response of loving obedience to the One who sent His only Son to redeem us….a choice He didn’t have to make.

So before you make the “normal” choice about what to do with your time, your words or your attitudes – hold it against the standards God put forth out of loving design….your choices and actions matter.

Have a blessed day,
