Titus 3:8 “This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning
these things I want you to speak
confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage
in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.” (NASB)
Hello,
I was reading through Titus, and was struck by something in
this verse. It was the “…careful to engage in good deeds.” This was odd to me, because
I just don’t associate caution with doing what is right. I think of caution
when it comes to the other side of the coin – and avoiding the bad things. So,
why the caution or careful to engage in good deeds? I believe the answer lies in
the back half of the verse. The verse says that these good deeds are good and
profitable for men. Things that are good and profitable do not happen by
accident. They happen with intention and purpose. It takes thought – careful thought
to ensure what we are doing is the right thing, something that is pleasing to
God to allow for impact on those around us.
Have a blessed day – and carefully do good deeds!
